Aged to Perfection

Old does not mean out-dated. Vintage pieces offer craftsmanship and elegance rarely seen in today’s instant-satisfaction super highway. Pictured here are a 1950’s cigarette case, a stunning belt from the early 19th century, a 1920’s multi-level compact, and a compact mirror from the 1933 World’s Fair in Chicago. Everyday items with uncommon beauty.

Wall O' Wigs

At some point, everyone needs a wig. Or, several wigs, at various milestones in life, as the case may be. Red Light Vintage & Costume DOES wigs. Manor House Glamour

When I was putting together this display, I was really feelin’ on Steven Klein’s recent spread in VOGUE with Raquel Zimmerman. Set in a manor home, Klein makes great use of both sumptuous indoor salons and gorgeous garden spaces.  We’ve been getting so much AMAZING vintage in recently at Red Light that I wanted to be sure to showcase some of our truly old pieces. There’s a perfectly paper-thin peach shift dress from the ’20s, some truly debonair evening wear (yes, gentlemen, the jacket has tails!), and – always my favorite – a healthy dose of drool-worthy jewelry.  Most importantly, I wanted to feature a BEAUTIFUL dress from the ’30s with butterfly embroidery!  I think it may be my favorite piece that I’ve seen come through the store.
